Use this play dough recipe to make play dough in less than 10 minutes!
It is super easy to make. Play dough will keep kids entertained, helps them with finger dexterity and expand their imagination!
It is cheaper than buying the commercially made play dough. It requires cream of tartar and cooking on a stove top.
Play dough Recipe:
Ingredients
2 cups of flour
2 cups of water
1/2 cup of salt
4 tsp of cream of tartar
2 tbsp of oil
10 drops of desired food coloring (or more for a richer color)
Directions
Combine all ingredients into a pot and set heat on medium
Stir until the dough forms a glob/ball. It will be lumpy and goopy
Dump the dough onto the counter and let it cool down
Knead the dough until it is uniform
Cream of Tartar
Many play dough recipes use cream of tartar. When I was first researching into making my own, I wasn’t sure of what and where to buy cream of tartar. It is a white powder and usually found in the baking aisle. The cream of tartar makes the play dough stronger, stiffer and improves its stretchiness.
Storing the Playdough
After you make play dough, store it in a container with a lid or simply in a zip-lock bag. We’ve enjoyed our play dough for over 2 months before I had to make a new batch! It sure does last longer than the commercial brands of play dough.

Yes! I’m glad I found this, it looks like an easy recipe. I’ve been putting off buying any playdough for my daughter, because I’m afraid of the mess it will make, but I also know it will keep her occupied for a long time (so I can get some work done!).
What a great idea, my kids love mixing things so this will be fun!
